"Berlioz the Bear" Substitute Manual

This 20 minute "Interlude" lesson includes a read aloud of Berlioz the Bear, and activities for students to review the string instrument family, meet the double bass and practice skills including sequencing, onomatopoeia and rhythms.

Book Summary: Berlioz the bear plays his double bass and instead of hearing zum...zum...zum, he hears zum...zum...buzz! It is a terrible time for this to happen because his orchestra is supposed to play at the ball. Although nervous that he is going to be laughed at, Berlioz and his musicians pack up their bandwagon. While on their way, this group of musicians encounters an additional problem; the bandwagon gets stuck! Can Berlioz make it to the ball? Will his double bass make the right zum...zum...zum?
